Suspected New Zealand "bot herder", spammer and malware author Owen Thor Walker, alias AKILL, who was arrested but released after questioning in November, has appeared in court. He is charged with four offences under New Zealand computer protection law. The charges include accessing a computer for dishonest purpose, damaging or interfering with a computer system, possessing software for committing crime, and accessing a computer system without authorisation. If convicted he could face 10 years jail time.

Walker, who made no plea at the hearing at Thames Magistrate's Court, has apparently been remanded on bail.
