Anonymous plans to publish confidential data from Italy's cyber police

Anonymous Flag Anonymous activists say they have obtained more than 8 GB of data from servers used by Italy's cyber police taskforce, CNAIPIC, and plan to publish it in stages. The data reportedly includes confidential information about foreign governments and ministries, and firms such as Gazprom and Exxon Mobil.

In a declaration published on Monday 25 July on Pastebin.com, the hacktivists claim that the documents were provided to them by a source. They have already published a list of the information obtained, along with 60 MB of documents which apparently includes correspondence with Italian authorities, project descriptions and a description of CNAIPIC's organisational structure.

CNAIPIC has yet to comment on the events. The state authority protects and maintains critical IT infrastructure in Italy. At the beginning of July, the Italian police arrested 15 hackers with suspected links to the Anonymous activist group involved in the cyber attacks on the Italian senate and government.
