Alleged LulzSec member Ryan Cleary is back in jail after breaking his bail conditions by using the internet. Cleary was originally arrested in June of 2011 and was charged with five offences relating to the construction of botnets with the intention of creating distributed denial of service attacks.

Cleary was re-arrested on 5 March, one day before LulzSec leader Hector Xavier Monsegur (known as Sabu) was revealed to have been working with the FBI to prosecute his former comrades. According to his lawyer, Cleary was arrested because he had been sending electronic messages to Sabu over the Christmas holidays, thereby violating his bail conditions. He is scheduled to reappear before a judge in May.

The hacker group LulzSec was formed in May of last year and launched denial of service attacks against the CIA, the UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency, Sony, US game studio Bethesda Softworks, Icelandic software developers CCP (the makers of the online game Eve Online) and News International. The hacker group is also alledged to have breached, or having tried to breach, the networks of the NHS, Sony Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, Nintendo, US broadcasting company PBS and security companies Black & Berg, Infraguard and HBGary.
