Next Tuesday, Microsoft will be releasing patches for the second time this year. Microsoft plans to release a total of twelve updates. Four areas will receive at least one critical patch: Windows (a total of 5), Microsoft Office (2), Microsoft Data Access Components (1) and the line of security products, including Windows Live OneCare, Microsoft Antigen, Windows Defender and ForeFront (1).

Microsoft will also be publishing an important software patch for both Windows and Office and another for the interactive step-by-step training course. Finally, a new edition of the Malicious Software Removal Tool will be released along with updates that are not security releated, eight via Microsoft Update (MU)/WSUS and two via Windows Update/SUS. Most of the updates require rebooting.

Microsoft has not revealed whether any patches for the five open holes in Word and the security problem already being exploited in Excel will also be provided.
