Sure, if the law enforcement agencies could use the same methods as
the crims, things would be easier for them. But on the other hand,
breaking the law in order to enforce it is hypocricy. If law
enforcement was above the law, we'd have a serious problem on our
hands.
I personally would rather keep the status quo, knowing there are
people out there who want to rip me off or hurt me, than have the
strong arm of the law look over my shoulder 24/7 or worse, give the
law enforcement the power to do whatever they please with no
consequences whatsoever.
