I think you'e missing a point here. The BBC are not law enforcement,
and they didn't really investigate anything: law enforcement and the
security industry have known more than Spencer does about botnets for
many years.
It's perfectly reasonable to -inform- the public in the public
interest, and the BBC have probably reached more people in a few days
than I have in many years of writing about bots, but the public
interest is not served by journalists behaving like criminals.
