Die actiongeladene Jagd spielt im malerischen Barcelona, wo Sandra Walker (Ellen Pompeo, "Catch Me If You Can") von einem wohlhabenden Kunden engagiert wird, um ein gestohlenes Gemälde zu finden, das er dem dortigen Museum zur Verfügung gestellt hatte. Im Rahmen ihrer Nachforschungen arbeitet sie mit ihrem früheren Liebhaber zusammen. Als die Spur jedoch zu einem skrupellosen russischen Mafiaboss führt und sie in Lebensgefahr schwebt, taucht Sandras Exmann, der New Yorker Cop Bruce (William Baldwin, "Backdraft - Männer, die durchs Feuer gehen"), auf, um seine abtrünnige Ehefrau nach Hause zurückzuholen. Entschlossen, sich von den Fesseln ihrer Ehe zu befreien, erinnert sie Bruce nachdrücklich daran, dass er sich außerhalb seines Zuständigkeitsbereichs befindet - und zwar in jeder Hinsicht. Doch die Raubserie setzt sich fort, und Bruce entdeckt, dass die Diebstähle Sandra angehängt werden sollen. Notgedrungen müssen die beiden zusammenarbeiten, um den Täter zu finden - und Sandras Namen reinzuwaschen.
