Als Eddie Argo und seine neue Partnerin Helen die Spur eines Falles aufnehmen, der auf den ersten Blick nach Doppelselbstmord aussieht, hat Eddie das ungute Gefühl, den Täter zu kennen. Paarweise finden sie die Leichen, immer nach dem gleichen Muster gerichtet: eine durch Strom getötet und mit WAZ gebrandet, die andere, immer eine dem Toten nahe stehende Person, grausam gefoltert.
