Während ihrer Reise treffen sie auf den niederträchtigen Jim Bender (Ward Bond) und seinen Kumpanen Bigtree Collins, die fast die gesamte Stadt Fargo besitzen. Um ihr kleines Imperium vor neuen Ansiedlern zu schützen, brennen die Schurken die Häuser der Farmer nieder, zerstören ihre Weizenfelder und schieben die Schuld dann auf die Indianer. Als Benders Männer die Ersparnisse von John und Sandy rauben, verbündet sich das junge Paar mit den Farmern, um die Bande in einer Schlacht ein für alle mal zu vertreiben.
