Die "Icy Box IB-AC642" ist ein schönes Stück Hardware! Insgesamt tut sie was sie soll und das Alu-Gehäuse ist robust und ansprechend.
Allerdings habe ich 2 Sachen zu bemängeln:
1. USB 3 wäre schön gewesen
2. Die Icy Box hat einen kleinen Konstruktionsfehler! Beim reinschieber des DVD-Laufwerks in das externe Gehäuse rutscht der SATA-Stecker nicht vollständig auf die SATA-Buchse. Bei mir gab es dadurch keine Verbindung zum Laufwerk. Der Grund dafür liegt in der Tatsache, dass die Platine mit der SATA-Buchse an nur 2 Stellen befestigt ist. Beim Reinschieben des DVD-Laufwerkes biegt sich die Platine durch und die SATA-Buchse verschiebt sich um ca. 5mm nach Hinten.
Lösen konnte ich das Problem folgender Maßen:
- Entfernen der 2 Schrauben an der Icy-Box
- Raus nehmen von USB-Kabel inklusive Platine
- manuelles Verbinden vom SATA-Stecker des DVD-Laufwerks mit der SATA-Buchse der Icy-Box
- Alles zusammen ins Alu-Gehäuse schieben
- Blende des DVD-Laufwerks nachträglich anbringen
Ich finde die Icy-Box klasse und würde sie jedem empfehlen, der nicht nubedingt Angst davor hat 2 kleine Schraube zu lösen :)
 reply QBOX on 10/21/2012, 20:43 I ordered both the SilverStone TS06 and the Icy Box IB-AC642 and found that the latter (albeit being slightly more expensive) features noticably higher build quality than the SilverStone.
Also, the Icy Box' external case is made of brushed and matte metal instead of the cheap glossy plastic surface of the SilverStone that attracts fingerprints like flies.
If the SilverStone would cost about 50-60% of the Icy Box conversion tray, I would recommend it as well, but since they both are only a few pounds/Euros apart, the SilverStone is the one I would recommend buying.
Also, if you decide to use an SSD as primary drive, I recommend putting the slower HDD into the ODD bay since these usually operate at SATA2 speeds.
