openSUSE logo The openSUSE project has announced that this year's openSUSE Conference will take place in Prague at the Czech Technical University. The event will be held from 20 to 23 October and will be co-located with the SUSE Labs Conference, Czech LinuxDays and the first ever Gentoo Miniconf.

The theme for openSUSE Conference 2012 (oSC12) is "Bootstrapping awesome!", with a web site at bootstrapping-awesome.org. The Call for Papers (CfP) is also now open. The conference organisers are seeking proposals for talks, workshops and Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions. Suggested topics include bootstrapping, distribution building and packaging, as well as "hardcore hacking sessions and more beginner oriented workshops".

Details about the types of sessions and a list of requirements are provided in the speaker guidelines; the organisers say that each of the other conferences will have their own CfP, but note that the teams "will collaborate to ensure there is no overlap and that sessions relevant for multiple audiences are planned in the right spot". All proposals must be submitted by 31 July.

Further information about the event can be found on the openSUSE Conference 2012 web site. Admission to the event will be free of charge, however, registration, which opens on 1 June, will be required.

The project's other major event, the openSUSE Summit, will take place alongside SUSECon, the main SUSE Linux conference, in Orlando, Florida one month before oSC12. The Call for Papers for the summit is open until 15 June.
