Registration for this year's openSUSE Conference, organised by the openSUSE project, is now open. The third international conference will take place from 11 to 14 September 2011 in Nuremberg, Germany.

The conference organisers announced that they have extended the call for papers (CfP) deadline by two weeks – the original deadline for submissions was 11 July. The conference team say that they have extended the deadline to "allow more BoF (Birds of a Feather), Workshop and Hack sessions to be submitted" because they "have not entirely capitalized on the potential for especially the ‘interactive’ sessions".

The event is aimed at users, contributors and developers from both inside and outside of the openSUSE community. This year's conference motto is RWX3 – the UNIX acronym for "Read, Write, Execute" three times over, for the user, the community and the rest of the world. In June, the project announced that it still seeking sponsors for the 2011 conference.

More information about the 2011 event can be found on the openSUSE Conference portal. Those interested in attending the conference can register on the project's web site. Admission to the conference is free of charge for community members.
