The openSUSE developers have announced a virtual Community Week, which is scheduled to take place from the 11th to the 17th of May. The aim of the event is to broaden the communities knowledge. The topics that will be discussed include KDE, GNOME, creating packages, testing releases and upcoming new features.

Other topics, such as the openSUSE board and wiki and web site improvements, are aimed at improving openSUSE as a whole by looking at where the project is going and discussing what may be wrong or missing. Discussions will take place in IRC chat rooms and each topic will have a wiki page and a screencast.

Ubuntu runs a similar virtual event called The Classroom, in which users and teams in the Ubuntu community host tutorial sessions for those interested.
