openSUSE Logo The openSUSE Project developers have announced that version 11.0 of their popular Linux distribution has reached its end-of-life. After the 23rd of July (last Friday), no new updates, including security updates and critical fixes, will be available. The developers strongly advise all openSUSE 11.0 users to upgrade to version 11.1 or later to continue receiving updates.

Releases of openSUSE are typically supported for two years. However, openSUSE 11.0, released on the 17th of June, 2008, has been supported for a little longer than usual. In early July, the project developers confirmed that, after "multiple requests" from the community, openSUSE 11.0 would receive a small extension of life to ease the transition from 11.0 to openSUSE 11.3, the latest stable release from the 15th of this month.
