The organisers of (LCA) have announced a Call for Papers (CFP) for the conference, which will take place at the beginning of 2012 in Ballarat, Australia. Interested parties have until 29 July to submit proposals for papers or presentations.

The conference is aimed at developers of free and open source software, and is traditionally attended by many programmers who work on the Linux kernel, or other key components of Linux distributions. Recently, Linux Australia gained full ownership of the domain name, giving the conference a permanent web presence.

The Linux Foundation recently pointed out that the period for submission of papers for LinuxCon Europe ends on 8 July. This year, attendees of LinuxCon Europe can also attend Embedded Linux Conference Europe at no extra charge; the two conferences will be held in late October in Prague. A few days earlier, the Real Time Linux Workshop is also being held in Prague, as is this year's Kernel Summit, the planning process for which has recently started.
