digiKam Logo The digiKam development team has released version 1.6.0 of its open source digital photo management application. According to the developers, the latest update to the image organiser corrects more than 30 bugs found in the previous release, improving the applications overall stability.

The Album GUI has been updated so that users can now exclude tags in the tag-filter view and users can now change item ratings when using the slideshow feature. Several new options have been added to the Image Editor, including the ability to display display over / under exposure indicators and adjust the levels of over / under exposed pixels from the histogram. The aspect ratio crop tool now lets users crop images while keeping the original aspect ratio. When compiling, the option is now available to use external dependencies to libPGF and Clapack instead of the internal implementation.

Additionally, a compilation issue affecting the Mac OS X version from the MacPorts Project from working has been corrected. The developers have also released version 1.6.0 of the Kipi plug-ins, a maintenance update that addresses a compilation issue under Mac OS X and 15 other bugs related to, for example, Picasa, Flickr and Facebook Export.

More details about the update can be found in the official release announcement. Version 1.6.0 of digiKam is available to download from the project's site and is licensed under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
