digiKam Logo The digiKam developers have released version 1.5.0 of their open source digital photo management application. According to the developers, the latest update to the image organiser introduces two new tools to the Batch Queue Manager, one for removing metadata from images and another to apply Lens corrections using the LensFun library.

digiKam 1.5.0 features improvements to the image editor, specifically improvements to the algorithm used to convert 8-bit images to 16-bit. Other changes include corrections for an issue on Windows systems related to the TDM-GCC and MSVC compilers, and more than 50 bug fixes. The developers have also released version 1.5.0 of the Kipi plug-ins, essentially a bug fix release that corrects 12 issues in the plug-ins module.

Further information about the update, including a full list of changes, can be found in the official release announcement. Version 1.5.0 of digiKam is available to download from the project's web site and is licensed under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
