digiKam Logo The digiKam developers have released version 1.3.0 of their open source advanced digital photo management application. The latest update introduces several revisions to database support, including a new database interface.

The new interface adds support for a different database back end, and MySQL and SQLite are now supported. Other changes include the ability to rename files according to database values and the QueueManager can now apply an image watermark over a photo. The developers have also released version 1.3.0 of the Kipi plug-ins to add even more functionality to digiKam. The plug-ins update is essentially a bug fix release and adds support for Captions export.

More details about the release can be found in the release announcement. Version 1.3.0 of digiKam is available to download from the project's web site. digiKam is licensed under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
