digiKam 1.0.0 is ready
Nine months after the first introduction of digiKam for KDE 4, the developers have completed version 1.0.0 of the image management tool. digiKam 1.0.0 fixes a number of bugs, curing various teething problems of the program's first version for KDE 4.
Among the new features are an improved queue manager for the program's batch mode and a new first-time assistant. Also new are an overlay button displayed above the active thumbnail for performing lossless photo rotations and metadata templates – a convenient new way of including information such as copyright data. Version 1.0.0 supports the use of Lightroom keywords for improved interoperability.
Version 1.0.0 of the Kipi plug-ins, which is due for release shortly, is designed to add further functionality to digiKam. According to user reports on the internet, previous versions of the plug-ins will work with digiKam 1.0.0. The photo management software's source code is available to download at the project's page. This page also offers links to the distribution packages.
