Zenwalk Core The Zenwalk development team has released version 7.0 of its "Zen computing" Linux distribution known as Zenwalk Core Edition. Zenwalk Core is intended for users with limited space on their hard drives and "perfectionists" that prefer to have a starting point from which to build a custom desktop or server system.

According to the developers, the latest Core Edition release, the base foundation of Zenwalk, features the 2.6.37.4 Linux kernel and a number of performance tweaks. Users can select from two kernels, the standard kernel which supports SATA or PATA disks or a larger kernel that includes support for "any disk technology from SATA to SCSI". The developers also note that the next version of Zenwalk Core will likely be included in the Standard Edition of Zenwalk as an installable option.

Zenwalk comes in three different editions. The Standard Edition is the complete version, while the Core Edition is the Zenwalk system without X applications. A Live Edition is also available which will run from a CD without the need to install and includes additional system recovery tools and partition tools.

Details about the latest Core Edition of Zenwalk can be found in the official release announcement. Zenwalk Core 7.0 is available to download from one of the project's mirrors.
