Zarafa logo Messaging and collaboration specialist Zarafa has announced the launch of git.zarafa.com, its own Gitorious distributed version control system. The company says git.zarafa.com is intended to enable developers to "innovate, contribute and get real time updates from the Zarafa software development team".

For example, source code for the company's Zarafa Collaboration Platform (ZCP), its Linux-based groupware product, is updated on the site following each commit, allowing developers to better track its development before each new version is released. The site should also benefit those maintaining ZCP for Linux distributions as it makes it easier to merge specific patches for building ZCP on specific distributions, according to the company.

The new site runs version 1.6.1 of Git and will complement the open source groupware vendor's existing Zarafa Community Hub, which launched in June 2011. Other projects hosted on the site include the open source Z-Admin administration interface for ZCP and the Zarafa WebApp. Community projects looking to host their source code can also use the site and be linked to from the Community Hub.
