X.org After a number of development delays, the X.org developers have released (direct download) version 1.7 of the X Server for X.org 7.5. Since the third release candidate, the focus has been on fixing bugs. The X Server now also includes Multi-Pointer X (MPX) and "Input Device Properties" (IDP). The developers have also re-enabled support for "Distributed Multihead X" (XDMX).

The announcement on the X.org mailing list covers the main additions and bug fixes. The next release in the 1.7 line is expected to be published in three weeks. The developers are already working on version 1.8 of the X.org Server and its development is expected to follow the recently adopted development model, which includes more regular and reliable release dates.
