WordPress for iOS version 2.6 released

WordPress has announced WordPress for iOS version 2.6, the iPhone client application for the blogging platform. This version has some substantial new features including the ability to record, upload, attach, and play videos, a re-write of the handling of local drafts that minimises the possibility of losing posts by mistake, auto-save and post revisions, easier site set up and a Media Library. The new version also has various bug fixes and performance enhancements.

A little more detail can be found in the WordPress blog announcement about the release. There, developer Chris Boyd explains that, since the release of the Apple iPhone 3GS, video had been a much requested feature and even more so since the release of the iPhone 4. Boyd suggest pairing the video feature with Video Press for WordPress.com to realise its full potential.

WordPress for iOS version 2.6 is available from the Apple App Store and is licensed under the GPLv2. Source code and development resources are also available.
