WordPress Logo The WordPress.org development team has announced the release of WordPress for WebOS, the project's first mobile application for WebOS devices. Using the mobile application, users can easily post to, and edit, their WordPress blogs from a Web OS 3.0.0 or later device, such as the HP TouchPad tablet.

Zoom Users can switch between managing, editing and browsing their content using the Cards feature
WordPress for WebOS works with both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress blogs, and takes advantage of the Cards feature in WebOS, which allows users to quickly switch between managing, editing and browsing their content. The visual editor lets users format text, add links and embed media into their posts and pages. The app also notifies users of new pending comments.

Support for WordPress Stats is built-in. The Stats feature works natively on all WordPress.com blogs, however, self-hosted blogs require Jetpack or the stand-alone Stats plug-in. The app is available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch and Japanese.

Further information about WordPress for WebOS can be found in the announcement blog post. WordPress for WebOS 1.0.1 is available to download via the HP App Catalog and requires WebOS 3.0.0 or later. Users can follow @WPWebOS on Twitter for updates.

Like WordPress, WordPress for WebOS is released under the GNU General Public License version 2.0 (GPLv2). Users interested in contributing to the application are encouraged to do so via the WordPress for WebOS project developer portal.
