WordPress Logo WordPress developer Dan Roundhill has announced the release of version 1.2 of WordPress for Android. With the application, users can easily post to and edit their WordPress blogs from an Android mobile device.

WordPress for Android 1.2 now features support for uploading and sharing video to a new WordPress post. According to Roundhill, the new feature works well with VideoPress, which converts the original video into multiple formats. He notes that users with self-hosted WordPress blogs may need to install the PJW Mime Config plug-in to allow the 3GP videos to be uploaded to their blogs. Support for geotagging has been added as well, allowing users to include location information (metadata) in their posts. Self-hosted blogs will need to install the geolocation plug-in. Android Market issues affecting HTC Tattoo devices have also been addressed.

More details about the release can be found in the official release announcement. WordPress for Android 1.2 is available to download via the Android Market and, like WordPress, is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Users interested in contributing to the application are encouraged to do so via the WordPress for Android project developer portal.
