Wine 1.5.5 adds support for Mono as an add-on package
Version 1.5.5 of the Wine open source Windows API implementation has been released. The most notable changes include the addition of support for installing the .NET 4.0 runtime and for installing Mono as a Wine add-on package – Wine Mono was recently updated to 0.0.4.
Other changes include DirectDraw Surface (DDS) graphics files support in Direct3D 9 / DirectX 9 (D3DX9), and the dithering of pattern brushes in the DIB (Device Independent Bitmaps) engine. The development update also fixes more than 80 bugs, including issues affecting Adobe Premiere and Dreamweaver, and Microsoft Office, as well as 12 crashing problems.
A full list of changes and fixes can be found in the release announcement and in the shortlog. Wine 1.5.5 is available to download from the project's site. Source code and binaries for Wine are hosted on SourceForge and licensed under the LGPLv2.1 or later.
The 1.5.x versions are fortnightly development releases of what will eventually become a stable 1.6 release and are not advised for production use. The current stable release is Wine 1.4 from March.
