Wine 1.3.4 adds ARM architecture support

The Wine Project development team has announced the arrival of the latest development branch release of Wine, version 1.3.4. Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) is free open source software that allows users to run Windows applications on Linux and Unix by providing its own native replacements for Windows DLLs.

According to Wine Project Leader and CodeWeavers CTO Alexandre Julliard, Wine 1.3.4 addresses more than 50 bugs found in the previous release and features the addition of Winlib support for the ARM platform and support for right-to-left mirrored windows. Other changes in the bi-weekly development snapshot include a new built-in taskkill.exe application, the implementation of the AcceptEx function, improved security checks for SSL connections and Inetcpl control panel improvements.

As with all development releases, use in production environments and on mission critical systems is not advised. Users testing the release are encouraged to provide feedback and report any bugs that they encounter.

Wine 1.3.4 is available to download from one of the project's mirrors and documentation is provided. Wine source code is available from SourceForge and is licensed under the LGPL. The latest stable release is version 1.2, the second major release of Wine, from mid-July.
