Wind River Linux 4 with new source code manager
Embedded specialist and Intel subsidiary Wind River has announced the release of version 4 of the Wind River Linux embedded Linux platform. New features include an updated version 2.6.34 Linux kernel, as well as user space, work flow and tool enhancements intended to increase productivity and facilitate resource sharing, including a new source code manager which reportedly makes it easier to deploy and archive patches. The new tool collection is said to speed up cross-compiling and debugging tasks.
Wind River Linux incorporates such components as the KVM virtualisation solution, the Wind River hypervisor, and a real-time-capable kernel. Version 4 is also on track for compliance with the forthcoming Carrier Grade Linux 5 and the Linux Standard Base 4 specifications. It's used, for instance, in telecommunications systems, aviation devices, medical tools and defence systems.
