VirtualBox logo Sun Microsystems has announced the release of version 3.0.6 of its open source VirtualBox desktop virtualisation application for x86 hardware. VirtualBox 3.0.6 is a maintenance update that includes a number of bug fixes and performance improvements.

The 3.0.6 update addresses over 50 bugs, including an issue on Mac OS X hosts that prevented password dialogues in 32-bit versions of Snow Leopard, bugs on Solaris hosts that could cause it to hang or deadlock and a problem that would cause NetBSD 5.0.1 CDs to stall during boot. Python has also been updated, RAM size restricted to 1.5 GB for 32-bit Windows hosts and Guest Additions installation on SUSE 11 guests has been fixed.

More details about the release can be found in the Change Log. VirtualBox 3.0.6 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris. VirtualBox is released under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2) and VirtualBox binaries are released under the VirtualBox Personal Use and Evaluation License (PUEL) licence.
