Sun Microsystems have released VirtualBox 2.1.2, a bug fix and maintenance release of the open source desktop virtualisation system. Along with the bug fixes Sun have made some enhancements, for example, Mac users will now find that when the battery reaches a critical level on their laptop, VirtualBox will now save the state of any running or paused virtual machines.

Support has been added for Linux From Scratch and recent Gentoo versions running in a VM, and experimental support for X.org Server 1.6 RC has been introduced for Linux guests. Windows 7 Beta is now also supported as a guest operating system. The full changelog details all the differences. VirtualBox 2.1.2 is available to download for Windows, OS X, Linux, Solaris and OpenSolaris.
