Vim editor learns Python 3

Vim logo More than two years since the 7.2 release, Vim creator Bram Moolenaar has announced the arrival of version 7.3 of his open source text editor. Vim, an acronym for "Vi iMproved", was originally created for the Amiga computer as an extended version of the vi editor, with several additional features aimed at editing source code.

The latest version of Vim now features support for persistent undo and undo for reload, and swap file encryption using Blowfish. The update also includes two new interfaces for the Lua and Python 3 scripting languages. Other changes include the ability to conceal text and various bug fixes. Moolenaar notes that, once installed, users can find all of the changes using the :help version-7.3 command.

Vim is licensed under the GPL compatible Vim License, which requests that users make a donation to help children in Uganda through the ICCF.
