VideoLAN Project to launch VLMC video editor - Update
The VideoLAN Project developers behind the popular open source VLC Media Player are expected to officially announce the addition of a new video editing project by the end of the month. Originally the announcement was expected during the VideoLAN Dev Days meeting in Paris, now concluded. The VideoLAN Movie Creator, also known as VLMC, will be a free cross-platform video editing tool that offers the "features to realise semi-professional quality movies", while remaining "simple and user-friendly".
According to the project's home page, a pre-release version will be of VLMC for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux will be available soon. The latest version of the source code is available on GitHub and instructions on building VLMC from the source are provided. VLMC is licensed under version two of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
Update - The VideoLAN developers have now posted a VLMC demonstration video on YouTube which shows the features of the editing tool including resizing, trimming and the use of a stacked edit history.
