VideoLAN Dev Days 2011 approaches
The VideoLAN project has announced that this year's VideoLAN Dev Days will take place on 3 and 4 September at the Institute Telecom Paris in Paris, France. The 2011 technical conference about open source multimedia will bring together developers from a variety of projects, such as VLC, libav, FFmpeg, x264, Phonon, DVBlast, PulseAudio, KDE and GNOME.
The first day of the event will open with remarks by VideoLAN Chairman Jean-Baptiste Kempf, who will then give a talk about the changes and new features in the next major update to VLC, version 1.2.0. Other presentations will include a talk by Jason Garrett-Glaser, lead developer of the x264 encoder, an overview of DVBlast, BitStream and Multicat by Christophe Massiot, and an introduction to libavfilter from Stefano Sabatini.
More details about the event, including a full schedule and registration information, can be found on the VideoLAN Dev Days 2011 web site. The VideoLAN project is sponsored by the non-profit VideoLAN organisation, based in France. It is best known for its popular open source, cross-platform VLC Media Player.
