RHQ Logo Following ten months of development, the RHQ Project has announced the release of version 4.0 of its open source server monitoring and management software. According to the developers, the latest version of RHQ features a new SmartGWT-based graphical user interface and support for PostgreSQL 9.0.

Other changes include a "much improved" MySQL agent-plugin, support for deleting Agent plugins, a new logfile alert-sender and improved authorisation for content repositories. The developers note that Internet Explorer is not yet fully supported, adding that they "expect to fully support it soon". However, Firefox and WebKit-based browsers, such as Safari and Chrome, are supported.

More information, including a full list of new features, can be found in the release notes. RHQ 4.0 is available to download from the project's web site. Hosted on SourceForge, RHQ source code is licensed under the GPL.
