Just two months after the publication of version 0.1, Phoronix has further developed its benchmark suite for Linux to arrive at version 1.0. The Phoronix Test Suite includes common performance tests on the CPU and on the system as a whole – such as tests for compiling large software packages and encoding audio and video signals – but it also provides special benchmarks for RAM, hard disk and graphics performance.

Several additional individual tests and test suites have been added to expand on those in the earlier version 0.1, although some look redundant – it isn't very likely, for example, that you will get fundamentally different results when comparing two computers if you test them not only with gzip but also with 7zip and bzip2. All the same, the objective of the developers seems to be to provide as wide a range of tests as possible so that a user can choose to run the tests they prefer. The public PTS Global database now contains test results of the complete suite on well over 300 systems, and there are also several hundred tests of individual benchmarks.
