VLC Media Player updated to V 1.1.1
One month after version 1.1.0, code named "The luggage", was released and more than 17 million downloads later, the VideoLAN Project has announced the first point update of the 1.1.x branch of its popular VLC Media Player to version 1.1.1. VLC is a free open source cross-platform multimedia player for various audio and video formats.
The VLC 1.1 first maintenance release features updates to Windows video output, support for DxVA2 decoding on ATI GPUs with Catalyst 10.7 and a number of improvements and fixes for libVLC, the core of the player. Other changes include translation updates and bug fixes for various decoders and demultiplexers. The developers advise all users to upgrade, as some of the bugs addressed could cause the player to crash.
More details about the release can be found in the release announcement, in the change log and on the What's new in 1.1.1 page. VLC 1.1.0 is available to download either as source or as binaries for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and is released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
