Germany company Univention has released version 3.1 of its Univention Corporate Desktop (UCD) product. The main change to the desktop is the improvement in Terminal Server capacity with lower memory use per client. Now more thin clients than for previous versions can be supported by the terminal server for the same amount of memory.

Univention has also updated a number of bundled applications. For example, UCD 3.1 now includes the KDE SC 4.4 desktop environment, OpenOffice 3.2.1 and Firefox 3.6.

The UCD Linux distribution features ease of centralized administration and patch management and is released under the Affero General Public Licence (AGPLv3). All downloads from the Univention site require a user registration.
