Ubuntu Logo In a post on the Ubuntu development mailing list, Canonical Engineering Manager Robbie Williamson, has announced that the current status and alerts on the state of the Ubuntu archives will, in future, be posted via Twitter and identi.ca. Each of the accounts will mirror the other so, Williamson says, there is no need to subscribe to both.

According to Williamson, issues will only be posted if they "are likely to cause very serious problems for a large number of users". These issues have only occurred in a few isolated instances in the past, such as Ubuntu 9.04 and Intel graphics, when the windowing system failed to load the drivers for Intel graphics chips after upgrading.
