Ubuntu Software Centre to support PayPal

Ubuntu sponsor Canonical has confirmed that users will soon be able to pay for Ubuntu Software Centre purchases using PayPal. In a post on the Canonical ISD blog, Infrastructure Systems Development (ISD) Manager Stuart Metcalfe says that support for PayPal payments in Ubuntu Pay, the payment system behind the Software Centre, has been in development for some time and the team expect to launch it "before Christmas".
While the Ubuntu One Music Store has supported purchasing music with PayPal for some time, Software Centre users could only pay for their purchases using a major credit card like Visa or MasterCard. The Ubuntu Software Centre is the Linux distribution's recommended software management system for adding additional applications, tools and/or components. Commercial software was first added to Ubuntu in April 2010 with the 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" release.
