Canonical logo The next Ubuntu Hardware Summit is to be held on 8 December 2011 in Taipei, Taiwan. The event is designed for OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and ODMs (original design manufacturers) who have an interest in deploying Ubuntu on new devices and computers.

The one-day summit will include an overview of Ubuntu's multitouch support, including the kernel drivers, X input stack and applications, along with a session on the UTouch gesture suite. Other sessions will look at how to debug Linux kernel suspend/resume errors, how to work with Canonical, how bugs flow privately between ODMs/OEMs and Canonical, and how to test ISO images.

Other hardware and software issues to be discussed will include good practice with BIOS and ACPI and how PulseAudio's scheduling works. The Ubuntu kernel team will also be introduced to the attendees and there will be sessions on Ubuntu in the cloud. The event is sponsored by Canonical and is free to attend though registration is required.
