Ubuntu Developer Manager leaving Canonical for Google

Source: netsplit.com Scott James Remnant, the "Ubuntu Developer Manager" for Canonical, has announced that he is leaving the company, and will be moving from London to work for Google in San Francisco. Remnant left his position with the Debian project and joined Canonical when the company was founded, seven years ago, by Mark Shuttleworth.

He describes on his blog that an interest in living in San Francisco combined with an urge to get back to "pure development", rather than distribution engineering, lie behind his decision. He has stated that he will continue development work on the popular Upstart start-up manager that he developed at Canonical – a new version is currently in the pipeline. Upstart is also in use in several projects at Google, including Chrome OS.
