TwitApps logo The Twitapps.com service, which provided email notifications of replies and changes to followers on the Twitter service, is closing down. The developer, Stuart Dallas of 3ft9, announced the closure in a blog posting, saying that working on the Twitter API "no longer excites me the way it once did". Dallas has said that he will be publishing the code behind Twitapps.com as open source, allowing developers to reuse or incorporate his code and launch their own service.

The Twitapps.com service will close it's website on September 18th and stop sending out email notifications on September 25th. Dallas says that he'll be publishing the source code to the current version on github on the 18th. Dallas has not said if he will be releasing the code to his unpublished and in-development version 2, or what licence the code will be under.
