TorqueBox 2.0 adds WebSockets support
The developers of the Ruby application platform TorqueBox have announced the release of version 2.0 of their software. TorqueBox is a Red Hat project and the successor of the JBoss-Rails project; it enables users to run Ruby on Rails and Sinatra applications on top of JBoss which ties them into the underlying messaging and scheduling systems.
TorqueBox 2.0 is built on JRuby 1.6.7 and version 7.1.1 of the JBoss application server. New features in this release include WebSockets support and the ability to use the Stream Oriented Messaging Protocol (STOMP). The developers have also fixed several bugs and claim "considerable speed and memory improvements" over version 1.x of the platform.
TorqueBox 2.0 is available as binaries and in source form, and is licensed under the LGPLv3 but depends on a number of components which are MIT licensed.
