Tiki Wiki Logo Following several beta releases, the Tiki Wiki developers have announced arrival of version 6.0 of their open source CMS Groupware. Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware is a web-based application created by a large team of contributors using PHP, MySQL, Zend Framework, jQuery and Smarty. The developers say that Tiki Wiki can be used to build and maintain a web site, wiki, Groupware, CMS, forum, blog, bug tracker or any other project that might run in a browser window.

According to the project, compared to the previous version, the latest release includes more than 1,500 code changes by nearly 50 developers. Tiki Wiki 6 features an updated user interface and extensive re-working and improvements to the Tiki blog, comments, spreadsheets and tracker features. Batch functions via cron jobs have been added and support for ccLite community currencies has been expanded.

Other changes include the introduction of reCaptcha support, better WYSIWYG support and integration with various social networks, such as Facebook. The developers also note that, as version 6 is designated as a Long Term Support (LTS) version, it will replace Tiki Wiki LTS, which will reach end of life when version 7.1 is released in April of 2011.

Further information about the release can be found in the release notes and in the provided documentation. Tiki Wiki 6.0 is available to download from SourceForge and is licensed under the LGPL 2.1.
