The M Project is a new open source HTML5 JavaScript framework. With The-M-Project, M-Way Solutions – a specialist in mobile enterprise software – has provided developers with a means to write cross-platform HTML5 applications for almost all smartphone platforms. So far iOS, Android, Palm webOS and BlackBerry OS are the operating systems supported.

Developers of mobile applications have to contend with a growing number of mobile platforms, making cross platform development an attractive strategy and web applications have been found to be a good choice for this strategy. The framework includes a node.js-based build tool, called Espresso, which is used to create new projects, manage their resources and test using a built-in, local server. In addition, there is a data provider and an MVC framework (Model View Controller) and an offline support feature. The rendering engine jQuery Mobile provides support for multiple mobile platforms.

The-M-Project is provided under the MIT licence and can be downloaded from GitHub or as a zip file from the The-M-Project web site.
