Linus Torvalds released the version 3.2 of the Linux kernel, open source Clementine music player reached version 1.0 and the Linux Mint developers updated Cinnamon, their replacement shell for GNOME 3 based on a fork of the GNOME shell. Netcraft published its January survey which showed that the open source nginx web server gained significant market share and overtook Microsoft's IIS, and the development team at Mozilla released version 11.0 of Firefox for Android, which now uses a native Android UI, into the browser's Aurora development channel. Meanwhile, Anonymous exposed neo-Nazis in Germany and chat logs revealed who was behind a major botnet, FreeDOS 1.1 was released after five years in development and a Spanish authority abandoned producing its own custom Linux distribution.
