The Document Foundation reaches fund raising target
The Document Foundation has announced that it reached its fund raising target of €50,000 in just eight days. The money has been raised to allow the foundation to become a standalone legal entity called a "Stiftung". Over two thousand donors contributed to the capital stock fund, which will become the financial rock on which the Foundation will be legally erected.
But the fund raising is not over for the Foundation. "So we still need your support: Every donation helps to pay for our future operational running", said Florian Effenberger, member of the Foundation's Steering Committee. Future donations will go towards paying for things such as marketing, hardware, infrastructure, attending trade shows and "developing new and exciting ideas".
