Talend Logo Talend has announced the availability of its first open source Master Data Management (MDM) product, Talend MDM. Originally announced at the end of last September, the software expands the BI specialist's data integration portfolio with a central management solution for master data. The MDM solution allows companies to maintain their data consistency even across applications and, according to Talend, it is the first open source product in its field. Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend, said that, "Talend’s mission is to provide companies with breakthrough open source data management solutions and MDM is a giant step forward".

The MDM solution is available as a free community edition or as a commercial enterprise version. Unlike the Community Edition, the Enterprise edition also includes several additional features, such as support for remote management and roles-based security. Talend MDM Community Edition is available to download for Windows and Linux systems, and an installation guide is provided. Talend MDM is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
