Talend acquires SOA specialist SOPERA
Open source data management specialist Talend has acquired German service-oriented architecture (SOA) provider SOPERA. Discussing the announcement Talend CEO and co-founder Bertrand Diard said, "The acquisition of Sopera is a critical step as we continue to evolve and grow our offerings and expand our market coverage," adding that, "the new financing round, led by one of the largest and most successful technology investment firms in the world, is a major validation of our strategy".
The acquisition was made possible by a further round of funding of $34 million (£21.3 million) from US venture capital firm Silver Lake Sumeru. Existing investors include Balderton Capital, AGF Private Equity and Galileo Partners.
Following the acquisition, all of SOPERA's 60 employees will become part of Talend's application integration division. Talend says that it will announce the details of the impact of the acquisition on its new product roadmap within the next 30 days.
