T-Mobile US planning more Android devices
According to a report from the New York Times, the US telecoms subsidiary T-Mobile is planning to release a variety of devices based on Google's Android. The devices are said to include a home phone and a Tablet PC running the open source mobile operating system. The information is based on confidential internal documents from one of the companies partners. Peter Dobrow, a spokesman for T-Mobile USA, would not confirm any details about future products, but did confirm plans for several Android-based devices.
T-Mobile in the US was the first mobile phone company in the world to sell the Android G1 smartphone manufactured by HTC. Other manufacturers are also developing Android handsets, however, these have yet to be released. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February, only prototypes for upcoming releases, such as the HTC Magic, were shown. Meanwhile, netbook manufacturers are also interested in creating devices based on Google's operating system.
